Dr. Johnson started her career in K-12 education without having any kind of concept of burnout or compassion fatigue management.
She experienced burnout herself as she worked with children who had severe emotional and behavioral challenges.
Dr. Johnson returned to school to learn the ins and outs of research, program development, and evaluation, and applied that learning to develop THRIV, an research-based model for burnout mitigation.
She now consults with non-profits, school districts, and businesses providing the support she wishes was available to her, both as an employee and as a leader.
Dr. Johnson spends her free time with her husband, Marc, and their son, Judah. She enjoys hand stitching, yoga, and quiet mornings on the back porch. Dr. Johnson practices what she teaches by implementing her own burnout management plan.
